Farmers Meeting of Sempu Hamlet:
BACK TO OUR OWN ROOTS

"Modern agricultural sciences teaching university studens to conquer the nature. We are, the farmers, not need that kind of sciences. What we are really needed is a wisdom of life with nature as it was. We can only reach this wisdom if we are truely understand the nature surrounding and really love our own soil". Tanto, a real actor and tireless preacher of organic farming stated out that basic philosophy when he facilitated an informal meeting of local farmers of Sempu Hamlet in the meeting hall of PERDIKAN-INSIST, 7 November 2009, reminding his fellows to the fundamental principles of agriculture.

FARMER SCHOOL INITIATING CHANGES

"War in the future may not come from the ambition to colonize a country but from a competition to dominate resources of food and energy as we have seen in the current crisis globally", said Ahmad Mahmudi, Chairman of INSIST Executive Board, in his speech to celebrate 'Folk Festive' in Tompobulu Village, Sub District of Balocci, Pangkajene Kepulauan Regency, South Sulawesi, 31 October 2009. The event is to commemorate accomplishment of a micro irrigation system built by the villagers. "This is a historical event for us", said Mr.Goncing, 58 years-old, a member of Elders Council of Tompobulu. "A similar event here lasting 30 years ago. That is why we are very exciting and feel that there is an important change now taking place again in our village... solving one of our crucial problems for years".
